Audrey Osler is writer, speaker, internationally acclaimed scholar, and currently writer-in-residence at Hub Feenix. During Konstrundan weekend she will give a book talk on Saturday at 2pm.
In her book Where are you from? No, where are you really from? Osler answers this fraught question in her own terms. She explores European colonial history through the stories of her ancestors, back to 18th century India and London, via Revolutionary France, China, Singapore, and Malaysia. Audrey uncovers a family history across seven generations, revealing universal tales of migration – journeys prompted by war, study, a global economic crisis, love, child abduction, and even slavery. Lives were influenced - and sometimes determined - by imperial ambitions. She considers how Europe’s untold stories impact on us today.
